DESERT ENCROACHMENT

Desert encroachment is the fragmentation, degradation and habitat destruction of desert land. They are the major causes of desert encroachment. Massives disturbances caused by people that advance the desert beyond the usual biological state. The desert, altered, degraded, and the natural land scape on a vast scale destroyed. One of the major causes, threats to biological diversity that human activity causes habitat degradation, habitat fragmentation, habitat destruction, pollution,human exploitating of species and the spread of diseases. Global economy such as mining and construction can cause habitat destruction. Habitat destruction also occurs when the habitat is destroyed in which the organism are present in the eco system. Habitat fragmention, some organisms is detached or a part is broken off that makes the organism incomplete in the eco system. Mining and construction causes a lot of pollution in the eco system which causes a lot of desert encroachment. Human exploiting species causing encroaching desertification to all species. Bringing in new species that are differences in living in the desert can cause a lot of species to become exinct. Some causing diseases unknown. Expanding the desert with increasing aridity. The meaning of desert encroaching is treapassing in the desert with a new species or removing a species that really helps the desert to stay in it's biological state.

A desert is a desolate stretch of barren or arid land mass of great spread, with little or no vegetative covers, mainly covered in sand, gravels or pebbles or a mixture of these, with practically no form of surface water, having minimal or no significant annual rainfall.

Major Causes

It is caused by the climatic changes and some, human activities such as overgrazing and bush burnings, and it is very dangerous to humans and animals.

Effect

It destroys properties and it’s a serious danger to human lives and animals, it even result to the deaths of some.

It also leads to hunger and drought as it affects farmlands and agricultural facilities in the region, thus making it inconvenient for people to live in affected areas.
